One of Hull’s leading accountancy and business advice firms, Smailes Goldie Group, is celebrating having raised hundreds for the HEY Smile Foundation with its Big Fat Quiz of the Year.
In total, more than £2,500 was raised by the various local teams that took part in the quiz at the Country Park Inn on Thursday 8 March 2018.
The teams fought it out over a range of tough questions covering music, sport and world news – thorough testing participants’ grey matter.
The competition was close, but by the end of the night Kingsbridge Corporate Solutions were crowned as the winners with an impressive score, followed in second and third by Gosschalks Solicitors and Nippon Gohsei UK respectively.
The night also saw Handelsbanken UK take home the raffle prize of a luxury hamper.
All money donated on the night will go to the HEY Smile Foundation, a Hull-based charity that works with businesses to equip other charities, volunteers groups and community organisations with the resources they need to succeed.
Ian Stocks, Commercial Manager at Smailes Goldie Group, said: “We had a fantastic night and were blown away by the generosity of those who took part. The competition was fierce and congratulations have to go Kingsbridge Corporate Solutions who took home the trophy.
“We hope the money raised during the night will make a big difference to the work that the HEY Smile Foundation do locally.”
Last year Smailes Goldie held a similar quiz for the Foundation, which raised more than £2,000, meaning that to date the annual quiz has raised around £10,000 for the charity.
Laura Cox from the HEY Smile Foundation, who organised the event in conjunction with Smailes Goldie, was thrilled with the evening. She said: “The atmosphere in the room was really exciting, every team wanted to win and you could feel the competitiveness in the air!”
